Beautiful
WoW we have had one of the most amazing holidays ever! This hotel complex has been exceptional the very well maintained grounds, the staff, the guests, the room we had on the adults only was beautiful, mini bar and coffee making facilities were always stocked up, the food and the a la cart restaurants were fantastic there was nothing the staff couldn't do, we have made life long friends with so many people so thank you all for making us all have fun and lasting memories. The beach is beautiful yeah it's a bit murky but hey that can't be helped don't listen to the bad reviews as it's your holiday you make it what you want! We went kayaking along the beach as you get this included, make sure you visit Catalina Island absolutely stunning!!!! And la Hasienda a great day out! (Wear old clothing as you'll get covered in muddy water!) Pools are fabulous we preferred the "quiet"pool as this was full of like-minded people and we had such a laugh, bar staff there were exceptional Marianna we love you Couple of tips. Ensure that when you fill up the spa bath the water is over the jets! The staff deserve tip's they all work so hard in the heat!! Pool floats are amazing to chat and float about in the pools! Entertainment was great, beach party was fun, karaoke, local entertainment and we did venture to the other side family area and watched the lion king and use the casino a few times. We had a few rainy days but that didn't dampen our enjoyment at all, we loved the time we spent here and will definitely return in the future. Please pass on our thanks and gratitude to every member of staff as they all deserve it Thank you again so much for making our holiday the most amazing time XxXxX 🌸 XxXxX

Amazing experience
The entertainment team makes this hotel a great experience by far. The whole team made our 7 days stay unique. No complains at all. They always had a smile in their face. Here are some of their names if you ever visit Roxana Capuchino Mireisy Welinton Johandri (versace) Juan Jose (nutella). The beach is not the greatest since the river flows into the sea right by the hotel’s beach but as I mentioned before I would come back because of the entertainment team.

First class hotel, which is 5 star value
This hotel does what it says on the tin. It’s beautifully decorated from the the outside to everything inside. The gardens and manicured to perfection. The general vibe is one of complete relaxation. The price point is just right and very good value for money. The choice of restaurants, sets the right balance of food choices. I’m here until the 7th October, enjoying a great 3 week break.

Excellent Price, Good, but not Great…
My wife and I stayed at the Bouganville for 10 days in late August. I’ll start by saying that our arrival coincided with tropical storm Franklin so some of the feedback being provided may have been impacted by conditions beyond their control (i.e. the beach, water quality, and strong humidity). On the positive side, the price we paid was probably 30% less than what we were able to find at other comparable “5 Star” resorts in the Dominican Republic. Additionally, the grounds and facilities are attractive and pretty well maintained. We did NOT experience some of the issues that others have claimed having with uncomfortable beds, mold in the room, power disruptions, malfunctioning A/C, etc. We stayed in a 3rd floor garden room suite close to overlooking the “quiet” pool on the back side of the resort (building #55). We REALLY enjoyed our time spent mainly by the smaller hot tub pool adjacent to the main/party pool. We really enjoyed working on our tans on one of the four day beds in this area. We didn’t have any issues getting drinks at the small bar located by this pool, nor issues getting a day bed (normally got there around 9:00AM). We really miss the sunshine, hanging out next to the pool, reading a book, and being able to walk down the beach, the pool bar, all in a matter of seconds… On the average side, we tried ALL of the restaurants (both a la cart and buffet) and the food at the restaurants ranged from good to ok, but didn’t have any meals (to include Don Pablo) that left us craving for it again…Additionally, the drinks were not the greatest and didn’t include any “top shelf” liquors (although I never saw anything offering a higher-level drink package…). There we an ample number of restaurants and bars to choose from, as well as being able to walk to the family side at La Romana next door, or the beach club down the beach. We also got a couples massage at the shared spa during our stay. The massage wasn’t cheap, and while relaxing, was simply ok. Resort staff were pretty good. Some seemed genuinely happy to be there and make your stay as nice as possible, others didn’t seem to be happy, smile, or say hi back… On the disappointing side, the resort is a solid 1.5 hours from the Punta Cana airport, which offers the vast majority of inbound international flights. Additionally, and while we were prepared, the weird drop/erosion of the beach.(as well as the brown water) was a let down. Making things worse was there was ALOT of sea weed (likely due to the tropical storm), debris, and jelly fish in the water. The resort is pretty remote and not located next to any attractions (although they do have a Bahia village, which is available to both customers of the La Romana and Bouganville sides of the resort. Not sure if it was simply the time of the year (shame on us if so), but it was CRAZY HUMID the entire time we were there (especially at night when the pools weren’t available). While nearly all of the restaurants were air conditioned, none of the bars were. We would dress up at night only to find ourselves dripping with sweat within 10 minutes of sitting down for a drink. Maybe we are old, but we’d feel gross after a single drink, not want to stick around, and ultimately going back to the room. In summary, while there were certainly things that we really LIKED about the resort, we didn’t LOVE it. That said, we both really enjoyed the relaxation aspects of the trip, and didn’t feel like we didn’t get value for our money, I’m just not sure we’d go back down the road (vs. something a little more expensive in either Punta Cana or the Riveria Maya in Mexico).

Amazing Honeymoon
Had a wonderful honeymoon, all the staff are friendly and welcoming and we made some lovely friends too! This was our first visit to the Caribbean and definitely not the last especially to the Dominican republic and the Bougainville resort. Looking forward to coming back at some point.
