Book Somewhere Else !
This was absolutely the worst trip of my life. From needing to fight for the room I booked to slicing my foot open on the beach, to receiving no help and a lifeguard who stalked me and management that did absolutely nothing... it was 1000% awful. So many other things I could explain, like golf carts slamming into each other and most restaurants under construction, but I will save you the read and hopefully your money. Book somewhere else. Awful horrible terrible experience.

Positives and Negatives
We stayed at the Bahia Aquamarine for one week (on the 3rd week of August). This is my honest review about this adult-only resort: Positives: - Good restaurants + app. reservation system - Well maintained grounds + trolly system (to move between the neighboring resorts at the Bahia complex) - Free low-speed WiFi Negatives: - The pool towels service-area opens very late at 9 am. - Several pool umbrellas were broken, and the metal bases were all rusted. - TV in the room was unusable due to bad picture quality (we spoke to other guests at our resort and found out they all had the same issue with their TVs). - Massive seaweed at the beach. Cleanup-Staff only managed to clean it up on the last 2 days of our stay. Vendors were allowed at the beach. - Lots of mosquitos (inside the room). - Occasional Power-Loss + the resort turns off the AC in the Acuario Buffet Restaurant during lunch hours to save power. - Room Keycards stop working too often (we had to go to the reception to get replacement cards about 5 times). - Due to Hurricane Franklin (which hit the area during our stay), some of the staff did not show up to work and as a result, our room was not cleaned up for 2 days and our mini-bar fridge wasn't re-filled with either water or drinks. We were lucky to get replacement towels during those 2 days. - Forgot to mention that we could not use the Coffee Shop by the beach (we were told at the Shop that only guests of the Ambar resort could use it). So, we were only allowed to use the old coffee machine at the reception. I STRONGLY SUGGEST REMOVING THE OLD SELF-SERVE COFFEE MACHINES FROM ALL RECEPTIONS (6 receptions in total) and to just open up the coffee shop to all guests! This will make all guests happy! while management saves $$$ on maintaining the coffee machines. Conclusion: Our expectation of this 5 star resort was much higher, prior to our stay.

Stained bedding, Dirty Conditions and Not Great Vibe
We decided to treat ourselves to a week away before school September madness hits and celebrate our 20th anniversary. We paid about $4500 to stay the week for the two of us. We are not super fancy people. We camp usually for our vacations lol. The sheets on our bed were stained. They changed them every day which enabled us to play a riveting game of "Name That Stain" because each day was a new one!!! I won on Tuesday with the fresh blood stain! The bedding had strange odour, the WiFi didn't work in our room which was annoying because that is how you book your stuff - on the App. The general vibe of staff was that they really didn't care to be helpful unless you had money in hand, the weeds at the beach made the water unswimable- and smelt awful. Oh!! And the endless friemds you will make when you are approached again and again to purchase things is mind blowing. You cant relax- the peddlers will approach one after another. The pools were unbelievably loud and dance music full blast all day. The food was good and safe to eat - so that was good at least. Not sure how this wrangled a 4 plus star resort rating but we are not ever going Back here and I would suggest you keep looking also. Go camping instead.

Enjoyable Vacation
Stayed At Aquamarine from July 22nd-August 5th,Room 85219. This was our 5th visit at a Bahia Property. Check in was fast, informative and efficient. Our first week was just myself and my husband. Everything was perfect. Room cleaned daily, fridge replenished daily, coffee refilled daily. Not A Single Complaint. Second week our extended family joined us.( Making dinner reservations for all of us was very easy) Second week we had to call daily for either towels or water or toilet paper. Fridge was NEVER restocked. Coffee was never replenished (YES!!! We left tips DAILY on the bed for the maid and in the fridge). Service in every bar, restaurant and beach was ALWAYS Impeccable!!! Juan at the beach is FANTASTIC!!!!! Beautiful smile, always energetic, always "hello my friends". Derlyn in the lobby bar was also a favorite, we met him the day we arrived and he always remembered us and greeted us with a warm friendly smile. Food was Amazing at all the a-la-cartes, our favorites were Portofino and Meat. Buffet was good as well. Good variety, but the same each day. We were told that we could have breakfast at the beach restaurant, but unfortunately it was closed. We went to the late night buffet, small but a good variety. Sports Bar was for us just ok. It's very busy, very loud and VERY understaffed. The beach was beautiful each and every day, no seaweed during our stay. The pool area was also nice. Fun entertainment throughout the whole day. Kept very clean, and the servers were very efficient, again, always with a smile! We also enjoyed the jacuzzi area, nice to go relax before dinner. Thank you to all the Bahia family for making our vacation so enjoyable.

Bahia Principe Grand Aquamarine: A Real Gem!
Magnificent property! Just part of a larger complex of accessible, connecting resorts. Excellent trolley system to quickly deliver you from one resort to another although the beach and restaurants are a short walk away. Excellent, varied entertainment available each night (e.g., fire show, circus...). Outstanding Festival Dominicana at the Village one evening. Very friendly and accommodating wait staff in the buffet and restaurants. Very good quality cuisine. Excellent dinners at both Mikado and Limbo. Special recognition goes out to Luis who always stopped by to see if all was well or if we needed anything. A birthday to remember!
