Short July Trip
Third time to Mexico, first time at this resort. Overall the resort was clean and well maintained. We spent a lot of time in the main pool where they had daily entertainment which was nice. The swim up bar was almost impossible to get served at and was way understaffed. We would get out of the pool and go to the bar just above it where service was great. The food at the al acart restaurants was ok but the buffet was not that great. The buffet was also pretty warm inside since it is open all around with no ac. Another odd thing was there were animals running along the ceiling in the buffet right above where people were eating which was a bit strange. Overall if we got a good deal we would probably visit again as we really enjoyed the pool and daily entertainment.

Great Hotel
Great hotel with amazing staff. Room were spacious with very large comfortable beds. Buffet has an ample selection of local and international cuisine. Was only able to book the Gran Tortuga restaurant which was amazing. Lovely selection of meats with extremely friendly staff. The medical staff situated just opposite the hotel in the Hacienda were extremely professional. After a slight medical problem the hotel we’re flexible with all our needs, they helped us by upgrading our concierge service to be able to have room service (not normally available) and a late checkout without extra charge. They have great entertainment available every day and a fantastic show called Origen. A trip we will definitely repeat!

Wonderful family holiday resort
You fly into Cancun, it’s one of the farther resorts from the airport but it’s worth it. I highly recommend booking a private transfer to avoid delays waiting for people on the bus and all the stops along the way. Food is fantastic, you get 3 ala carte dinners per week of your stay, and there is the buffet for the rest of the time. Buffet changes up so it doesn’t get boring at all. There is a quiet pool on the far end of the hotel, Central there is the party pools and on the kids side there is a large kids pool, water park with slides, and a spray park for the littlest ones and a waist deep (adult waist) pool for kids that they can stand up in with fun sprayers. The kids club is from ages 4-12, there are two groups (4-7 monkeys) and (8-12 parrots) they offer all day activities from 9 am - 5 pm. It’s totally included with your stay! The first day we just hung out and played in the water all day, but then we went to check out the kids club and their offerings were amazing, my son loved it so much! Arts & crafts first thing, then tennis lessons or outdoor play ground (or other fun activities), then pool for an hour, then they take them to the buffet for lunch, then a full afternoon of activities and more pool time. One day there was a piñata making craft, another day a magic show with a real magician (I was impressed). In the evening at 8 pm they do kids show that the kids get involved in (Moana, frozen, talent show, etc), they also had a kids dance party one night and another night was movie in the park! The beach is so close also, depending on time of year the seaweed is bad in Cancun but there they are doing a great job of try to keep it clean. There is also a section of beach that they netted off in the water to keep it clean, so we swam there a few times. No issue getting pool chairs or beach chairs throughout the day at all either. There is a dolphinarium on site with a daily show for free at 10:30 am. You can also do a dolphins encounter totally kid friendly and safe. It’s expensive but worth it. There is a hacienda aka shopping Market (and pharmacy/ doctor) area on the resort and it’s actually impressive, you are able to haggle the prices down so don’t accept the first asking price Room is great, everything is super clean (all the reviews I read were about the cleanliness of the hotel which I loved). The villas are 3 floors high, no elevators, I wanted an upper floor as I like the balcony. We had a room with a king bed and a pull out couch if we needed it. Bathroom is open, so not good if sharing with friends for privacy…. But not an issue for our family. Staff are helpful and super friendly. Honestly I’ve been to a lot of all inclusive and all around this is my fave! I’ll def be back! Before I forget… the resort is quite large but not over the top. They do have golf carts that go by a main route every 10mins…. It def makes it easy to get around :)

Dangerous
All of my family including grandkids went to Bahia principe in Mexico. The wife and I stayed at the sian ka'an and the rest stayed at the grand tulum. This was just a couple weeks ago. On an early Saturday morning at 5:00 am we received a phone call from our frantic son, he told us that his girlfriend was sexually assaulted. We hurried over there to find her talking to police. She believed it was an employee that did this. I myself have been in law enforcement for 34 years. As I sat and watched this investigation it was clear that they did not want to find a suspect. The area that she was at before she was led away had several cameras, I suggested as many investigators would do would be to show her the video to see if she could see the suspect. They completely refused. Everything they did was just the opposite that should have been done. The police took her and my son to the Tulum police station, remember these are Mexican police carrying m16 rifles. They were petrified to say the least. Since this incident Bahia principe has done absolutely nothing. They won't even answer emails and heaven forbid you try to talk to someone on the phone
