Not the full 5 star experience, but beautiful moments and AMAZING food!

We had such mixed feelings about our stay! We went for a birthday trip with a few couples, and were looking for a mix of peace, and also enjoyment. What we absolutely loved: 1) The FOOD. Holy moly - it was amazing. We never did room service, but the three restaurants we did eat at - never missed. There were unique food combinations for apps, mains, and desserts, and truly, we didn't have one bad bite. To the chefs - each of y'all were truly top notch. 2) The BIKES. This layout of a resort is a tidbit different than most, as the front half is more jungle/forestation, and it's about a mile out (technically .75 miles) out to the beach. They provide bikes (and golf carts, don't worry) for you to make it back and forth from beach to room. Some may consider this a negative, but our whole crew really enjoyed it. It made it easy to move back and forth, and done within a pleasurable way where you can still enjoy the views around you, and also just channel the inner kid in you. 3) Beach Views + Tropical Jungle Vibes. Honestly, we quite enjoyed the combination of both. Our room was off the cenote, but the pool overlooking the beach/oceanside, was amazing. You felt like you were off the grid, and could sit in the pool, and see beautiful ocean views, but then at the same time, get into the ocean and just dive around. We loved the diverse views! 4) Very peaceful & not crowded. The resort was only about 25% occupied when we stayed, so obviously, that made an impact, but we never waited to be sat at restaurants, and more often than not, the whole resort was quiet by 10 pm. What we struggled with: 1) Service. It was really hit or miss. There were a handful of amazing folks that were extremely helpful and attentive. However, the majority of the time, we felt like folks did not care to be there. At one point, we were sitting poolside, and every bartender / server was on their phone, and so much so that we'd have to consistently go up to the bar to ask for another drink or order our lunch at the bar. This also happened on the beach itself. Don't expect "poolside or beachside" service. It's a smaller pool/beach area, so it's not hard to go order at the bar, but if you're wanting that sort of service, just be prepared to have one from your party ordering, and don't expect someone to come ask for your order. I mean - at one point, our group was the only on the beach, and we watched employees go to and from helping the grounds keeper (a gentlemen helping cut off coconuts on the palm tree next to us with 2-3 employees standing around to talk with the keeper), as we're trying to flag someone for assistance, and they would just continue to walk past us. Remember - the resort was only at 25% occupancy :) The one hour we had the most attentive service (randomly sharing their "drink of the day") - one of the staff had their phone out taking photos of the service. It definitely looked like they were trying to capitalize on getting some marketing on a "good moment." This was also the only day we had a "drink of the day." That didn't exist before, or after, that one day. Felt like they were capturing for clout. 2) Fees. Woof. There are a lot of things that you will have to pay for that you do not anticipate. Room service - for each request, it's $20 USD. Certain menu & drink items are additional charges (expected at some resorts if it's truly top of the line). "Restocking your mini fridge" --> You were given a small assortment of sodas, 2 water bottles, and 4 beers. If you asked to restock more than once a day, or more than what is allotted, it's a $20 USD fee (Including water bottles..). We'd grab a few extra water bottles or beers from the one bar open at 10 pm before going to our rooms so we could have a night cap in our room, and more than 1 water bottle a person for the night/next morning. We also kept getting challenged at what we did or didn't pay for. Example: Transportation, we booked through our agent as to and from the resort/airport. When we went to book our return trip, they "didn't have it on file that we paid for transport back." They also even forgot to charge one of the couples in our group, so upon checking in, they had to have the couple "re-submit their room purchase." There is also a local tax you must pay for - so bring cash, or anticipate to pay that coming in. Majority of the activities available, you have to pay for. If it's not available during the days you're there, you pay or miss out. 3) Resort "Fixes." One of our couples did not have working hot water in their room, and overall, your rooms do not get cold. Remember, you are in a humid area, but we were able to cool our room by keeping the interior doors between bathroom, foyer, and main bedroom shut, and shutting blinds. The "pier" is non existent (we heard they were hit by a tsunami over a year ago, so that would be the reason why!), and there were a lot of times the bikes did not work (chain would fall off, flat tires, etc.). The spa too (which was super disappointing in the end), did not have a lot of areas that worked. Although the spa opened at 9 am, the sauna was not available, because in reality - they turn the spa on at 9 am, so it's more so available at 10 am. There are other unique offerings in that spa, but the only ones you can go to where the room isn't broken, is the sauna, the cold plunge pool, or the relaxing room. I did do an 80 minute massage (for almost $300 USD), which was lovely. It looks like at one point they had a fully functioning spa, but we're not sure if they're going out of business, or this is just how they operate in the "off season." 4) Entertainment. There is none, outside of dining music. The one bar that is open till 1 am, is the pool bar, but you were not encouraged to stick around (see point about service). So, we brought our own table side games to play, and really just entertained ourselves. This isn't detrimental to us though, as we enjoy a good ol' game night! But if you're looking to watch a performed show, or themed nights, you won't see that here. Most of the resort is closed up by 11 pm. 5) Confusing Schedules & Dining. There are three restaurants. (1) open only for breakfast, (1) open only during lunch & late night, and then two switch of days they are open for dinner (one will be open on a Monday, the other on Tuesday, etc.) So, you do not have dining "options." You only go to one restaurant, along with the rest of the resort. There are "two" areas for breakfast (one truly is only the right breakfast spot), and the other is just behind the main lobby entrance with breads & bowls of fruit (cited as "24 hrs" --> even though when we were leaving for an excursion at 6 am, nothing was available, including coffee). It took us probably about two days to fully get the timing around what was open when, and we did have some of the staff help us out when we were trying to order in weird times (due to travel / coming back from excursions), but just be sure to make note of what is open when so you're not being charged extra to order to your room because a restaurant is closed. 6) Cenote....you'll see. Even though they allow twice weekly for a swim, we wouldn't recommend. A cenote is supposed to be clear to the bottom. This "Cenote" is murky green water where you cannot see anything. Skip that activity offering. Overall - for a 5 star promised experience, the only thing 5 star we received was the food. Everything else ended up landing on 3 stars. All in all, we felt like the resort looked & operated like it was going out of business, and for our next trip, we won't be returning.

Unforgettable- a one in a million experience

What can I say - this hotel is among the best I have ever visited - staff made us feel special the whole time we were there from check in to check out - Positives - people, staff and opportunities to indulge in your dreams of a holiday. With fabulous service and food on offer across your stay you are unlikely to find fault. Facilities and location - couldn’t be better for a 5 star holiday - we left the resort once to visit Tulum but everything we needed was accessible on site including a wonderful beach and vistas - nightly entertainment was 10/10 from the cellist to the Mexican evening - don’t miss out - Daily activities organised by Maria and Mario - these included snorkelling or diving with Eduardo who offers you opportunities to swim in a reef in a million and will take photos of you swimming among the shoals of fish and send them to you for a small fee - tour of the gardens, a swim in the cenote or Spanish lessons with Maria - a must do The 3 pools and lounges are a blessing with drinks/food and excellent service on tap. Truly a magical holiday that I couldn’t have even dreamt could be that good - this comes from a well seasoned traveller to over 44 countries and hundreds of different hotels - thank you Luxury Boutique Mexico I don’t think anywhere will ever compare favourably again - you are now my number 1 hotel

Best Honeymoon Choice for peaceful relaxation!

We stayed 5nights. I read a lot of review and was nervous at first but once I got here was blown away! The staff really is nice and hospitable. Carlos greeted us at the front desk and Mario was the Concierge during our time. We tried Yoga and Spanish lessons (included with the all inclusive!) with María Jose (Majo) and it was an awesome time! Sad we waited until our last full day because she can customize the lessons & teaches more than one day. We also did snorkeling (included) and did the honeymoon package so we got breakfast in the room one morning. This was one of the more quiet and chill resorts which was just what we needed! Got rest, some physical activity (you can bike around the resort easily during the day or request a cart). We really lucked out on having an amazing honeymoon experience. Would definitely come back!

Great time in a great place

The Blue Diamond was amazing. They upgraded my wife and I to the Honeymoon room. We greatly enjoyed the snorkeling, Mexican night dinner, spa, pools, Spanish lessons and more. The staff was exceedingly polite and accommodating. We had no serious complaints and would come back again. The food was great, and the atmosphere was as well. There is plenty of flora and fauna around if one is interested in it. The resort is not crowded, and the more secluded and quiet feel was much appreciated. Our yoga instructor Majo also taught our Spanish lessons, and she was delightful. I already want to come back.
