Family vacation almost a disaster
I would recommend for family with kids there was a lot to do for the kids. The food was not great at all didn’t match the menu. The three restaurants that needed reservations steakhouse the steak was great but the menu didn’t match what you got the Caesar salad was disgusting! The next restaurant that needed a reservation out of 3 was Italian the ravioli and steak the best there had I known I would’ve ate there a second time. The last restaurant out of the 3 that needed reservations was the hibachi it was good. I have been to DR 4 times and never received the service I received there with my family the servers aren’t nice or entertaining they all look like they hate their job which I never experienced that. The buffet service was horrible! And the food was disgusting! The front desk people some were nice others were mean and rude. The thing I didn’t like was the fact that if you come with kids they give you key cards I came with 17,14,8 year olds they wouldn’t give us wrists bands for everyone to get in and out of room or a second key! That was annoying I travel a lot and never had that they have just a regular white band and said it’s because you have kids but a key card with kids for parents makes life harder not easier and that’s what we need on a vacation! Definitely not worth the money you pay. No shuttle service! The beach smelled and it wasn’t exciting at all. The daily night shows the bartender in the bowling alley and the swim up pool bar further towards the beach we’re the best! Melvin the waiter was weird and he sucked! They have a restaurant strictly for “privileged” weird as well. The entertainment the blue team was okayyyy. They have an adult only side but if your an adult your not allowed unless you pay an extra fee which I thought sucked as well when it’s all Connected like I’ve said before I’ve traveled and if you’re an adult you get in kids aren’t allowed which I get but to pay extra when I’m an adult because I have kids “kid room” lol which was the same as people without kids was extremely rude I’ve never had that before. It’s like a divide they have all these activities for kids but when you bring the kids you get treated differently. I tipped where I felt like I needed to. The rooms were nice. The experience overall wasn’t great and I’m very surprised! No jet skiing or water activities at the beach either. The burger spot near the beach was ok I saw a lady eating bbq chicken and asked if they had it at the burger spot and the one looked at me and said no then another waiter said yes and pointed to a whole bunch of bbq chicken! This is the only resort in afar that I’ve been to where not many speak English! It was a such a weird experience for me I think the kids had a good time which is what I hoped for but whew! Ocean el faro get it together! I was not pleased as my previous experiences I’m DR like Bavaro princess punta Cana and majestic punta Cana much much better experience I would’ve went back there!

Do not recommend
We just returned from 10 days at Ocean el Faro. She short story is I really don’t recommend it. - room next to us flooded, the entire privilege beach area smelled like sewage for 48 hours - the pools are in need of repair - particularly the kids pool. Missing tiles etc in large sections. - main pools are all stained and the grouting is missing or green - buffet is mediocre at best - same food everyday with zero variety. Constant leaks and oil spilling all over the place. Service beyond just a drink is not happening - steakhouse, Italian, Mexican restaurants are the best service and food - hotel staff enter your room when you have do not disturb signs on - lazy river is fun - kids pool is really beat up - beach area is not usable for swimming - only loungeing. The beach vendors are allowed on the property so they harass you all day long and engage your kids if you say no - very minimal supervision at daisy club - no sense of security when you walk into the place. - all 4 of us (kids and adults) had diarrhea throughout the stay - starting around the 4th day. 7 days into our 10 day trip one of our children (aged 4) began to develop a rash. 24 hours later my other child (aged 2) began developing the same rash. Stuck in our room for 72 hours watching them get worse. Returned to Canada and doctors confirmed they got hand food and mouth disease. If you have a family, do not recommend this hotel. It’s not worth the health of your family.

Mediocre . More like a 3 star.
Well, we paid extra for the rooms with loft and rooftop. They were ok. A/C worked fine. Beach was horrible full of seaweed and it is not a beach for swimming or children. It is a rocky beach. The pools were not cleaned properly. Every morning we found cups and debris inside pools even after being “cleaned” . We had to purchase our own floats for the pools (overpriced). Not enough pool chairs with umbrellas. The kids daycare gave cero attention to the children and did not perform any activities. My daughter fell and hit her head. I only found out because the other litttle girl there told me. The kids pool is very unsafe and needs serious repairs . We couldn’t reserve restaurants even standing in line very early . They are all booked all the time. Included Drinks tasted terrible. Main buffet was ok. Definitely not a 5 star hotel and overpriced .
